We are excited to announce the official launch of the Arabic version of the Global Medical Device Nomenclature (GMDN), a significant step in the global standardization of medical device terminology. The launch was officially announced at the Technology Management Conference in Saudi Arabia on February 19th, marking a pivotal milestone in improving communication and regulatory processes in the medical device industry.
This initiative was the result of a collaborative effort between the GMDN Agency and MEEMPA, with funding provided by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a strategic framework aimed at transforming the country’s healthcare sector and positioning it as a leader in medical technology and innovation.
The Arabic version of the GMDN is poised to significantly enhance medical device nomenclature across Arabic-speaking countries. As Saudi Arabia’s medical device market is projected to reach USD 3.6 billion by 2032, this launch is expected to streamline regulatory processes, enhance patient safety, and contribute to the growth of the healthcare technology sector in the region.
This development is a crucial step in fostering global collaboration and improving healthcare standards within the rapidly expanding Middle East medical market.
